3 Ways To Help You Be More Mindful

Mindfulness isn't difficult, we just need to remember to do it

With so much going on, it can be hard to slow down and be present in the moment or take a moment to focus on yourself.  Although mindfulness is something we can all experience, getting to a good place takes practice and putting yourself in the position to make it effective.  Let us explore three ways to help you become more mindful.

Plants

Something about taking care of plants brings people joy and calmness.  Having plants in your home helps you become more in tune with nature, and the color green is naturally calming.  They also help make the air in your home cleaner.  Studies show that people spend more than 85% of their time indoors.  Placing plants in your living room, bedroom, and kitchen adds to the room’s ambiance and character.  You can start with succulents for those who don’t have the greenest of thumbs.  They are among the easiest plants to take care of and are great for those who travel often.  There are a variety of colors and species.  They tend not to require a lot of water and are great for indoor spaces or outdoor decks and balconies.

A Music Playlist

Music can change your attitude, get you excited, and help you concentrate.  Music is one of the most beloved ways to unwind, and a curated playlist can put you and your guest(s) in the mood.  Making or discovering a few essential playlists can be an anchor to put you in a certain state of mind to relax.  The genre is personal, yet listening to your playlist specifically when you need to relax will do wonders.

Midday Pause & Micro-Moments

Have you ever gone through most of the day, looked at the clock, and wondered where all that time went?  What did I do?  At that moment, wonder why you did not have any time to relax or do hat all these other people are doing, living their “healthy lifestyles” and being mindful?  It can be challenging especially with a hectic schedule.  I work, run two businesses, and I get it; time is precious.  Yet take a moment and think about it.  If you wanted to be at your best, you would ensure you are taken care of, right?  As busy as we get, ensuring you have “me time” is essential.  I am not advocating that you have to take hours during the day, yet making time for a midday pause or micro-moments (small amounts of time to focus on yourself. Usually five to ten minutes) is underrated.  Schedule them and put them on your calendar.  You will appreciate it and see the value when you do.
